Performance im August 2024, Salzburg
2-5 Personen
Every 10 minutes, a camera captures the situation on the hiking trail to Hohensalzburg Fortress. The panoramic image is made available to the public on a website. Additionally, a current image is transmitted to two screens at the valley station of the fortress railway. This allows visitors to check the weather before their trip, see how many people are in line, or get a real-time view of the fortress from anywhere in the world. The archive of panoramic images dates back to 2016. Since November 2023, people visible in the photos have been pixelated for privacy reasons. We are trying to trick the system. We’ve collected screenshots from the last 8 years, each taken on August 16th at 4:40 PM. From the shades of blue in the sky in these images, we have created an „average“ blue that combines the various sky tones. This blue also serves as a prediction for the sky’s shade on August 16th, 2024, at 4:40 PM, the moment when our live performance is happening. Over the course of an hour, we hold signs in this „average blue“ in front of the webcam. This will create 6 panoramic images in which we are visible with these signs. The software becomes confused: Where does the human body begin, which needs to be pixelated? It happened, that the sky blue pixels mix with those of our bodies. The performance will be viewable on the fortress railway webcam website for the next 10 years.
