Tea glasses, cotton thread, kiwi tea, steel, acrylic varnish, fan
from the series Sound-Souvenirs, created in Istanbul
I’m lying on my bed and feel the ground beneath me shaking. As a child, I sometimes had circulatory problems, and I worry that these symptoms might recur. On my desk, there’s a glass of tea. The surface of the liquid is vibrating. I assume the tea is indicating a minor earthquake. Even though I’m relieved that my circulatory issues were just imaginary, I’m worried about the occurrence of earthquakes. A few days later, I figure out that the vibration was caused by a construction site. A house in my street is being demolished.
